Lament-Dance of Mowgli
About
Lament-Dance of Mowgli is four minutes in length and intermediate in level. Based on the fictional character from ‘The Jungle Book,’ Mowgli is performing a melancholic dance; unusual from his normal happy and adventurous nature, this lament shows the versatility of the famous character. (Billaudot Description)
Composer-Henri Tomasi
Tomasi (1901-1971) was a prolific 20th Century French classical composer, pianist and conductor. In 1921, he commenced his studies at the Conservatoire de Paris studying with Gaubert, Vincent d’Indy, Georges Caussade, and Paul Vidal. In 1927, he won both the “Grand
Prix de Rome” and a unanimous first prize in conducting. He immediately began a double career as a composer and a conductor. The majority of his works were for wind instruments, but he also composed concerti for violin and viola.
