Jan Gippo
Jan Gippo has been the Piccolo/Flautist of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra since 1972. He graduated from the New England Conservatory of Music and has been teaching at Webster University since 1980. He has presented recitals and masterclasses in the UK and abroad.
Jan was a founding member of the Webster Wind Quintet and the Webster Chamber Players, and he created the course “The Practical World of Music Business.” He also owns Meridian Publishing LLC, which publishes works for piccolo and flute. Jan served as Principal flute for the Bach Society of St. Louis.
He was elected Chairman of the International Conference of Symphony and Opera Musicians (ICSOM) and founded the piccolo committee of the National Flute Association. Jan has been involved in commissioning new works for the Piccolo. He has also served on the board of directors for the National Flute Association and contributed to Flute Talk Magazine and Instrumentalist publication. Jan Gippo holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Flute from the New England Conservatory of Music and a Master’s Degree in Applied Flute and Wind Ensemble Conducting Literature from the same institution.
