Heinrich Soussmann
Heinrich Soussmann (1796-1848) was a German flautist and composer. A child prodigy on the violin, he also studied the flute with Gottlieb Krüger and August Schröck (1779-1854). In 1816, he became a flautist at the Royal Chapel in Berlin, and in 1817, he became the principal flautist of the Grand Opera Orchestra in St. Petersburg.
Soussmann’s most famous work is “Groasse Praktische Flotenschule, op. 53,” published in 1839.
