About
Karg-Elert was greatly inspired by the limitless technical possibilities of the Boehm system flute. This advanced solo flute work lasts for a duration of five minutes, combines lyrical romantic melodies and technical acrobatics.
Sigfrid Karg-Elert
Late romantic/impressionistic German composer, Sigfrid Karg-Elert (1877-1933) was best known for his works for organ and harmonium. His musical style was influenced by J.S. Bach, Grieg, Debussy, Reger, Scriabin, and early Arnold Schoenberg. He also wrote works for solo instruments and smaller chamber ensembles.
Karg Elert has written numerous works for flute including: Flute sonata in B-Flat Major, Op. 121, Sinfonische Kanzone , Impressions exotiques Op. 134, Suite pointillistique in G Major, Op. 135, Sonata appassionata in F-Sharp Minor, Op. 140 and 30 Caprices for Flute Solo, Op. 107.
