About
Each piece has a different character and tempo. These impromptus incorporate major intervals, extended tonality, free interpretation, varied rhythms and cantabile melodies in the tonal style of 20th-Century composers. The pieces deal with musical themes such as cantabile playing, free interpretation without time pattern, differentiated rhythm, extended tonality, major intervals, dexterity, and much more.
Hermann Schroeder (1904-1984) was a Professor of Music Theory at the Cologne Musikhochschule. He composed many instrumental works including 4 Impromptus for solo flute (1975).
