Composed in memory of his brother, Gary Schocker’s Sonata No. 9 is a serious yet tender work. The four movements are marked Affettuoso, Arioso, Marziale, and Ondeggiando – the Italian tempo markings perhaps indicating a certain degree of formal tradition at the foundation of the sonata.

American Flautist/Composer, Schocker has composed an array of sonatas and chamber music for most orchestral instruments as well as several musicals. Schocker’s works have a French influence and incorporate dramatic and humorous elements within the compositions.
