Ten magnificent tangos and other characteristic pieces by the Argentinian master of tango nuevo, skilfully arranged for flute and piano (with accompaniment CD) by Hywel Davies. This volume includes Vuelvo al sur and Los sueños from the soundtrack to the film Sur (Fernando Solanas) and extracts from the incidental music to El sueño de una noche de Verano (A Midsummer Night’s Dream).
The piano parts to these pieces are made available on the accompanying CD/CD-ROM as high-quality PDF files. The CD is compatible with both PC and Mac computers, as well as with most ordinary CD players.

Astor Pantaleón Piazzolla
Piazzolla was an Argentine tango composer, bandoneon player, and also arranger. Piazzolla’s nuevo tango was distinct from the traditional tango in its incorporation of elements of jazz, its use of extended harmonies and dissonance, not to mention its use of counterpoint, and its ventures into extended compositional forms.
