Kronke Romance and Scherzo Op 200 for Two Flutes & Piano
Emil Kronke
German composer, Kronke’s (1865-1938) music embodied the late German Romantic tradition that followed Schumann.
He studied at music conservatoires in Leipzig and Dresden with teachers including Carl Reinecke, Thomas Organist Karl Piutti, Felix Draeseke, Theodor Kirchner, and Jean Louis Nicodé.
As a composer of the late Romantic period, Kronke composed an array of piano works, orchestral and operatic pieces as well as numerous compositions for the flute, amongst others.
Moreover, he actively engaged as a pianist, serving as a chamber musician and teacher. After settling in Dresden, Kronke remained an active concert pianist and composer until his passing. In recognition of his accomplishments, he was granted the distinguished title of Royal Professor in 1917.
