Stamped with J.C. Haynes, this exciting flute #193 is the earliest surviving silver flute made by William S. Haynes, circa 1895. The flute is silver throughout and produces tonal qualities that are very typical of a Haynes flute. Powerful, rich, and direct.
The Haynes sound has remained steadfast from its earliest known flute, through to the modern-day flutes. There is a resin hand support for the left hand to enable stability whilst playing.
Condition
The padding is generally good throughout the instrument, however some attention to the foot joint padding would be advised. The condition of the silver is good, and the flute has been well looked after.

William and George began their flute-making career at the J.C. Haynes Company in Boston. The first 506 flutes made by the Haynes brothers bear the JC Haynes “Bay State Flute Company” name. The first Wm. S. Haynes Co. flute is #507. The brothers agreed to enshrine the start date for the Wm. S. Haynes Company as 1888.
