George Frederic Handel
George Frideric Handel (1685-1759) was a German-born composer who made significant contributions to Baroque music. Renowned for his mastery of various musical forms, Handel composed a vast repertoire that included operas, oratorios, concertos, and chamber music.
Handel worked in Hamburg and Italy and was strongly influenced by the great composers of the Italian Baroque. He later settled in London around 1712.
His compositions for the flute include concertos, sonatas and chamber works, showcasing his exceptional ability to harness the expressive qualities of the instrument. Handel’s flute works encompass intricate melodies, virtuosic passages, and rich harmonies.
