Pierre-Octave Ferroud
Ferroud (1900-1936) was a French composer, born in Rhône, close to Lyon. Between 1920-1922, he travelled to Strasbourg for military service whilst also studying music with Guy Ropartz. In 1923, he moved to Paris where he settled as a composer and music critic. In 1932, he co-founded Triton, a contemporary music society, along with Henry Barraud, Jean Rivier, and Emmanuel Bondeville.
Ferroud also wrote a biographical book about his mentor, Florent Schmitt. Schmitt outlived Ferroud by 31 years, as Ferroud passed away before the publication of Autour de Florent Schmitt in 1958.
Ferroud regularly contributed musical reviews and essays to the journal Paris-Soir.
