About
Explore Gaetano Donizetti’s captivating ‘Sonata’ (1819) for flute and piano. This piece, composed at the young age of 22, showcases Donizetti’s strong influence from Rossini. Despite its title, the composition resembles an Italian opera overture, featuring a slow introduction followed by a lively allegro. The original autograph can be found in the ‘Museo Donizettiano’ in Bergamo.
Arranger’s Description
A new arrangement of this classic and much loved Italian flute and piano work for two flutes and piano. This works really well as a joyful and virtuosic party piece, has a wonderful operatic feel to it (especially with the splitting of the low and high voices) and gets a great audience response!
