André Caplet
French composer and conductor, Caplet (1878-1925) won a place at the Paris Conservatoire in 1896 and won the coveted Prix de Rome in 1901 ahead of Maurice Ravel. He served as conductor of the Boston Opera from 1910-1914. Caplet was known primarily through his orchestrations of works by Claude Debussy.
As a composer, Caplet wrote several works for orchestra, numerous vocal works and chamber pieces and some works for piano.
He composed works for flute including Rêverie et Petite valse, 1897, Feuillets d’album, 1901 and Viens! Une flûte invisible, 1900 for voice, flute and piano.
