About
Eldin Burton’s (1913-1979) Sonatina for flute and piano was composed in 1948 and in the same year it was written, became the prize-winning composition of the New York Flute Club competition. This sonatina started life as a piano work as an exercise on a Juilliard School composition course. Burton later arranged this piano work for flute and piano which was published by Schirmer. He gave the first performance of the sonatina with flautist, Samuel Baron.
