Giovanni Bononcini
Giovanni Bononcini (1670-1747) was an Italian Baroque composer, cellist, singer and teacher, one of a family of string players and composers. He trained as a cellist in Bologna and in 1686, he became a member of the renowned Accademia Filarmonica di Bologna. Bononcini became a cellist in Pamphili’s Orchestra, Vienna and in 1719 he was invited to become a composer for the Royal Academy of Music under Handel’s direction. He composed a vast number of operas, 300 cantatas and chamber music amongst other works.
