Joseph Bodin de Boismortier
French composer, Joseph Bodin de Boismortier (1689-1755) composed over 100 instrumental and vocal works. In particular, he wrote numerous works for the flute as well as concertos for cello, viol or bassoon. In 1723, he moved to Paris and one year later was given the royal privilege as an engraver, enabling him to publish his own works.
Blavet’s many instrumental compositions incorporate the flute such as his popular set of six concertos for five flutes. He dedicated his six sonatas for flute and harpsichord op. 91 to the celebrated French flautist and composer, Michel Blavet.
