Claude Arrieu
French composer, Claude Arrieu (1903-1990) studied piano and composition at the Paris Conservatoire. Her teachers included Georges Caussade, Noël Gallon, Jean Roger-Ducasse and Paul Dukas together with studies with pianist, Marguerite Long. Arrieu’s influences were Faure, Debussy, Ravel and later, Stravinsky. Her compositional output includes a vast number of works for orchestra, chamber ensembles, theatre, radio, film and concerti in various genres.
She composed a trio for woodwinds in 1936 and in 1944, her popular ‘Sonatine’ for flute and piano was performed on radio by Jean-Pierre Rampal.
