Andersen’s Moto Perpetuo is a virtuoso tour de force which was written originally for flute and piano and appears here in an ambitious version for alto flute and piano. This arrangement may be used for concert performance or as a study.
Carl Joachim Andersen
Danish flautist, composer and conductor, Carl Joachim Andersen (1847-1909) was a virtuoso musician and acclaimed composer of flute music. From 1869-1878, he played for the Royal Danish Orchestra. He then moved to St Petersburg and joined the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra. In 1881, he moved to Berlin where he played in the flute section of the Royal German Opera. Whilst in Berlin, he became a co-founder and member of the Berlin Philharmonic. His compositional output consists of 67 works mainly for the flute.
