Composer-William Alwyn
British composer, Alwyn (1905-1985) was also a virtuoso flute player. Aged 15, he entered the Royal Academy of Music-London where he studied flute and composition. For a time, he was a member of the flute section of the London Symphony Orchestra. Alwyn was also a Professor of composition at the Royal Academy of Music (1926 to 1955)
