George Cloos
George Cloos
In 1857, George Cloos moved to New York City to live with his brother, Gotthard. Through Gotthard, George met William Bauer, a flute maker who became a close friend. When Gotthard left the city, George remained and established his own flute-making company around 1862. He spent the rest of his life in New York, where his two sons eventually joined the business. Cloos also made flutes, piccolos, fifes, and clarinets.
