Gabriel Fauré
Fauré (1845-1924) was a French Romantic composer, organist, pianist and teacher. He is regarded as one of the foremost French composers of his generation and his musical style has influenced many 20th-century composers. Faure studied piano with Camille Saint-Saëns. In 1896, he was appointed organist at the church of La Madeleine in Paris and became a Professor of Composition at the Paris Conservatoire. Among his students were Maurice Ravel, Georges Enesco, and Nadia Boulanger. He wrote a vast number of pieces for orchestra, chamber, vocal and church music.
