About
William Noll originally composed Noll Nocturne for soprano saxophone and later re-arranged this work to showcase the beauty of the alto flute. 2012 NFA Newly Published Music Competition – Honorable Mention
Alto Flute
The alto flute belongs to the Western concert flute family. Much like the standard C flute, it uses the same fingerings as the C flute and piccolo but is a transposing instrument in G (sounding a perfect fourth lower than written). The alto flute is characterised by its rich, mellow tone.
