Landell Flutes
Jonathon Landell is a master flute maker and founder of Landell Flutes, with a career spanning decades of innovation in the craft. He began his journey studying flute performance at the New England Conservatory under James Pappoutsakis while apprenticing at Powell Flutes. His experience there, combined with mentorship from luminaries like William Bennett and Albert Cooper led him to create the first Cooper scale flute in the United States in 1972.
In 1976, Landell established his workshop in Vermont, where he handcrafted over 180 custom flutes and developed the Landell Flute Technician Training Program to pass on his expertise. Now based in Wampum, Pennsylvania, he continues to train the next generation of flute makers, aiming to ensure the legacy of Landell Flutes endures.
