Company Info
Gemeinhardt’s legacy originates with Kurt Gemeinhardt, a fourth-generation flute maker from Markneukirchen, Germany, steeped in a two-century instrument crafting tradition. Trained under his father, Kurt’s craftsmanship flourished in St. Gallen, Switzerland, where he meticulously fashioned flutes for world-renowned musicians, earning international acclaim for his unparalleled quality.
In 1928, Kurt’s expertise drew him to Elkhart, Indiana, setting the foundation for The Gemeinhardt Company. Initially envisioning a limited run of professional all-silver flutes, demand soon surpassed expectations, prompting expansion to mid-priced and entry-level options.
The company’s reputation grew steadily, leading to the acquisition of Roy Seaman Piccolo Company in 1997, renowned for its exceptional grenadilla wood piccolos. This move solidified Gemeinhardt’s stature as the premier flute and piccolo manufacturer, serving musicians of every level.
Today, Gemeinhardt Musical Instruments, LLC, harmonizes artisanal heritage with modern technology and manufacturing across the U.S., Taiwan, and China. The brand embodies precision and consistency, blending human artistry with technological innovation. From component craftsmanship to final assembly and quality assurance, each Gemeinhardt instrument embodies a dedication to superior sound and craftsmanship.
Generations of artisans pass down their expertise, ensuring Gemeinhardt instruments resonate with students and professionals alike. A commitment to enduring quality defines every instrument carrying the Gemeinhardt name.
