Publisher’s Description
Arvo Pärt’s “Spiegel im Spiegel” showcases his artistic style. The piano plays a continuous stream of chords, while the cello performs a simple, flowing melody. This melody gradually expands into broad, hymn-like shapes, creating a new structure that invites reflection, prayer, or the desire for redemption.
Arvo Part
Arvo Pärt is one of those composers in the world, whose creative output has significantly changed the way we understand the nature of music. In 1976, he created a unique musical language called tintinnabuli, which has reached a vast audience of various listeners and that has defined his work right up to today. There is no compositional school that follows Pärt, nor does he teach, nevertheless, a large part of contemporary music has been influenced by his tintinnabuli compositions.
Alto Flute
The alto flute belongs to the Western concert flute family. Much like the standard C flute, it uses the same fingerings as the C flute and piccolo but is a transposing instrument in G (sounding a perfect fourth lower than written). The alto flute is characterised by its rich, mellow tone.
