Lensky’s Aria from Tchaikovsky’s 1879 opera Eugene Onegin, based on Pushkin’s novel. This new version for flute and piano is presented by French-Korean flautist Mihi Kim, a professor at the École Normale de Musique de Paris and the CRD d’Issy-les-Moulineaux.
Mihi Kim
French-Korean flautist Mihi Kim is an international soloist and professor. Since 1998, she has taught flute in Paris and the surrounding region, including at the École Normale de Musique and the CRD in Issy-les-Moulineaux, training over 200 professionals.
Born in Seoul, South Korea, Mihi Kim studied in France and Germany at the Paris Conservatoire CNSMDP, Hochschule of Cologne and the Hochschule of München. She holds the equivalent of a DAI (Diploma of Performing Artist, Ph.D. in interpretation from the Conservatoire CNSM in Paris) obtained in 1998. She is a laureate of the 5th International Competition Jean-Pierre Rampal in Paris. She also won the 1st Grand Prize at the International Music Competition in Bayreuth, Germany.
Mihi Kim specialises in classical, jazz, and electronic music, collaborating with composers like Armando Ghidoni, Martin Kutnowski, and Guy-Claude Luypaerts, with works dedicated to her performed globally.
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky
Tchaikovsky (1840-1893) was a renowned Russian composer, beloved and influential in classical music. His works feature captivating melodies, rich harmonies, and vivid orchestration. He composed seven symphonies, eleven operas, three ballets, five suites, three piano concertos, a violin concerto, and many other pieces.
In the 1870s, he created iconic works including Symphony No. 4, the opera “Eugene Onegin,” and the Violin Concerto in D Major. In the 1880s, he composed Symphony No. 5 and the ballet “Swan Lake.”
In his final years, Tchaikovsky wrote Symphony No. 6 (“Pathétique”), considered one of his greatest works.
