Martin Wenner Reproduction Baroque Flute After Palanca
Martin Wenner Reproduction Baroque Flute After Palanca
About
This model incorporates an oval embouchure which allows for a more powerful tone. Crafted from grenadilla wood obtained from a private collection in Frankfurt, both this model and the original flute share the same material. This wood is less susceptible to cracks than ebony and has excellent sound characteristics. The original is manufactured in ebony, which additionally compresses the sound. In spite of this, the Palanca flute is no “brutal” instrument but rather allows the most diverse tonal shades. The usually very muted cross-fingered chords such as F, G sharp or B are especially strong on this flute and have a very good core.
The Palanca Flute
The Palanca flute can be described as a universal instrument that covers a large spectrum of flute literature. It is especially suited for music by Locatelli, Platti, Händel, but also J. Seb. Bach. Carlo Palanca was active as a fagottist and instrument builder in Turin, where he died at the ripe old age of 95 in 1783.
