Description
Saint Saens Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso-Flute and Piano
Publisher-Theodore Presser
About
This exhilarating has been expertly arranged for flute and piano. Originally composed in 1863 for violin and orchestra, this masterpiece was dedicated to the virtuoso violinist Pablo de Sarasate, who mesmerised audiences with his performance during the premiere in April 1867.
Initially conceived as the thrilling finale to Saint-Saëns’ first violin concerto, Op. 20, the Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso garnered such acclaim as a standalone composition that Saint-Saëns decided to publish it separately.
Notably, the score has undergone various arrangements, including adaptations for violin and piano by Georges Bizet, piano duet by Jacques Durand, and even two pianos by Claude Debussy.

As a child prodigy, he gave his first recital in 1846 and studied at the Paris Conservatoire. He became the organist at the Church of the Madeleine in 1857. In 1871, he co-founded the National Society of Music. Le Rouet d’Omphale and Danse Macabre are among his widely performed symphonic poems.
