About
Le Petit Negre was composed for solo piano in 1909. Jan Merry’s arrangement of this piece is a fantastic addition to the flute repertoire. The main theme is modelled on ragtime music, a style which was very popular at the time of composition.
Claude Debussy
French composer, Claude Debussy was born in 1862 and was a gifted pianist. Aged 11, he studied at the Paris Conservatoire. Debussy established himself as one of the greatest figures of French music.
His most famous works include, Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune , Clair De Lune, Prélude from “Suite bergamasque”, La Mer, La fille aux cheveux de lin from “Préludes I”, Arabesque No. 1 and “Children’s Corner” amongst others.
